January 20, 2012

Dear Members of the Classical Community:

Thank you for all the positive feedback I received about our new email communication system. I like the idea of communicating this way and as a parent myself I appreciate current news from the school. If you know a parent who would like to be on our list, have them contact the school to be added. I enjoy reading Bill Reynolds, a sports writer from the Providence Journal, “For What It’s Worth” column every Saturday in the sports section of the paper. He writes in reading point fashion; a style I’ve grown to enjoy so if you would allow I’d like to try it here.

Some Things to Keep in Mind:

  • This Monday, January 23, begins mid-term week here at Classical. Please be mindful that your teen may be stressing a bit. Mid-terms are a time honored tradition here at Classical that mimics the college exam process. Please make sure they eat well; limit texting and certainly all the social media. Also, students will tend to go to bed late during this time; please emphasize a good night’s rest. For a full schedule of mid-terms click here.
  • On Monday February 6, 2012 we will be having an all day release day for students EXCEPT for those juniors/seniors who will be presenting their junior exhibition projects. It is necessary for an all day release because all staff are involved in the judging and support process. The exhibition is a graduation requirement and the process will need the school’s full attention. So please note on your calendar that February 6th will be a no school day for everyone else. I will also be sending a Parentlink message home as well.
  • The next CHSCA (our parent group) meeting will be on Wednesday, January 25 at 6:30 pm. The meeting will be held at Michelle McKenzie’s house- 119 Lauriston St. 02906 (one block from the CVS on Hope St. on the Eastside). The meeting will focus on the content of the parent’s page on the Classical website. Michelle’s contact info is 521-3202 or you can email her at  michellemck62@gmail.com.

As always thanks for your continued support and please feel free to call or email me with your comments or concerns.
